Vincenzo Alterio was born in Naples, Italy. He studied
chemistry at the University of Naples “Federico II” where he obtained his university
degree in 2001, followed by completing a Ph.D degree in Chemistry in 2004. Subsequently
he carried out his postdoctoral training at the Institute of Biostructures and
Bioimaging (IBB-National Research Council, CNR) and in 2006 was guest
researcher at the Biochemistry Institute of the University of Luebeck (Germany).
From 2009 he is a researcher at the Institute of Biostructures and Bioimaging
in Naples, being part of the structural biology group. His expertise lies in the
field of X-ray crystallography and his research interests are mainly focused on
the study of biological macromolecules having medical and/or biotechnological interest.
Research Interest: Structural biology, X-ray crystallography, proteins, protein-ligand complexes.
