Pietro Orlando is an Italian forester and agricultural entrepreneur based in Bova Marina (Calabria, Southern Italy). He holds an MSc (LM-73) in Forest and Environmental Sciences from the University of Mediterranean Studies of Reggio Calabria (110/110 cum laude, special mention). He is the inventor of a patented acoustic anti-wolf collar for livestock protection and has carried out field testing of the device. His research integrates bioacoustics, non-lethal mitigation of human-wildlife conflict, and AI-based acoustic detection of wolves, supporting sustainable pastoral systems and biodiversity conservation in Mediterranean landscapes.
